The Introduction to Christian Formation and Discipleship One-Year Programme is a year-long course for YWAM staff who want to deepen their understanding of growth and discipleship. The One-Year Programme is comprised of an orientation week, three distance learning modules, an integration project, and a graduation celebration. Each module includes 12-15 hours per week of independent study in the participant’s ministry context, as well as a one-week on-site intensive in Harpenden, England.
The first module looks at the Story of God through the history of the Bible and the Church, the role of spiritual disciplines in personal development, and knowing God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The second module looks at the life of Jesus as our model for growth and development. Participants will explore their personal narrative, the ways one’s narrative shapes a person, and the implications of human development on discipleship.
The third module looks at various ways the Church and the individual participate in God’s kingdom coming to earth through dynamic co-creating with God.
After completing the three study modules participants will draw from the content of each module to design and offer an integrative learning experience.
Over the course of the programme participants will reflect on the significance of God’s Trinitarian nature, the role of Holy Spirit and community in discipleship and growth, and how the transformation of the individual is part of bringing the Kingdom to earth, leading to restoration of all creation.
